Scientology Volunteers Clean and Revive Czech Cities

Volunteer Ministers of the Scientology Church Led forty Community Initiatives Throughout the Czechia in October

Spanning from the capital city to the country’s second-largest city, community helpers turn moral principles and compassion into visible civic improvement.

Czech Republic — October 31, 2025 — During October, the VMs of the Church of Scientology came together in cities throughout the Czechia to revitalize public spaces, support local charities, and foster a renewed public engagement in 4 major cities — Prague; Brno; Plzeň; and Pelhřimov.

In just four weeks, they carried out more than forty events, uniting hundreds of volunteer hours in environmental and humanitarian efforts guided by The Way to Happiness, the common-sense ethical guide created by L. Ron Hubbard.

Impact Through Unity

Each week, fifteen to twenty helpers worked together in more than ten community activities, contributing over 100 hours of service — plus another 100 hours for a major cleanup in the city of Brno.

That one-time initiative collected 150 bags of trash, converting neglected grounds into usable parks. In Plzeň, teams tackled an derelict woodland area left in unsanitary conditions after makeshift camps, disposing of dangerous waste with diligence and compassion.

“It’s not flashy labor,” a participant commented. “But if we don’t take responsibility, who will? Every cleanup is about rebuilding respect — to our environment, our fellow citizens, and ourselves.”

Unity Across Differences

The period also featured meaningful interfaith cooperation. The team collected and delivered garments for those in need to a Catholic charity, showcasing a spirit of solidarity that transcends creed.

Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, spoke about the broader meaning of such service:

“Helping is a universal language. Be it partnering with a religious group, a municipal department, or a neighbor in need, our members act on the principle that a better society is built by better people — those who take initiative and show compassion.”

A Tradition of Service

Founded by L. Ron Hubbard in the seventies, the VM initiative equips community members with practical skills to bring order and compassion in crisis or everyday challenges. Recognized worldwide for disaster relief and social projects, these yellow-shirted volunteers are active today in more than 120 nations.

In the Czechia, their commitment to local action expands each year, blending efficient planning with ethical principles. Their enduring slogan — “There’s always a solution” — inspires residents wanting meaningful opportunities to serve their communities.

Ethics in Daily Action

Many local VMs also hand out the The Way to Happiness during their activities. Written as a non-religious ethics manual, it presents 21 principles promoting self-respect, truthfulness, and care for nature — principles reflected by the team’s regular projects.

These modest yet steady efforts illustrate how moral awareness and civic engagement go hand in hand. “As individuals step up, the world improves,” Arjona remarked.

Community Recognition and Ongoing Impact

Municipal representatives in Prague, Brno and other cities have commended the Volunteer Ministers’ consistent efforts. Their visible, hands-on presence — from tidying walkways to caring for green spaces — has encouraged residents to join or start their independent projects.

A volunteer described the experience simply: “We didn’t wait for someone else to fix it — we just started.”

The Volunteer Ministers Program

The Volunteer Ministers program of the Scientology Church is a global movement providing practical and spiritual assistance. Established by Hubbard, it teaches people in basic skills of communication, planning, and assisting others in distress, empowering them to support their communities.

Whether it’s large-scale disaster relief to small neighborhood projects, VMs embody the principle that help is always possible.

What Is the Church of Scientology?

The Church of Scientology is a modern faith founded by L. Ron Hubbard in 1952. It teaches that each person is a thetan, inherently capable and able to achieve clarity and liberty through study and self-improvement.

Scientology churches and missions are present throughout the continent, where recognition as a bona fide religion grows steadily. Through awareness campaigns, outreach, and humanitarian programs — including programs focused on narcotics education, rights advocacy, literacy, and moral development — Scientologists collaborate with individuals and institutions of all faiths to foster respect and harmony.
